After floods destroy their home, Noah and his mum Rosa move to a remote log cabin along the Great Ocean Road, inherited from a relative who vanished years earlier.
The cabin once belonged to Featherstone Haul, a Ballarat prospector who disappeared after striking gold. Once they arrive at the cabin in the Otway Woods, they find it filled with hidden doors and mysterious clues left by ‘the voice from the shadows.’

The boys uncover old journals and newpaper cuttings dating back to the Ballarat gold rush era as they learn about Autralia's past and how it is now shaping their future. Along with a better understanding as to what they could be searching for.
Noah’s personality reflects one of a chess loving, puzzle solving kid who doesn’t always fit into the ‘cool kids’ friendship groups. He finds a friend in Great Ocean Road local boy Arlo and together they uncover hidden clues and riddles leading to Featherstone’s lost fortune. But two men from Featherstone’s past are searching too, determined to claim the gold at any cost.
